What are Delivery Fees, and Why Do We Charge Them?

Delivery fees are essentially a contribution towards the operational costs of getting your order to you. This includes expenses such as driver wages, fuel, vehicle maintenance, and other overhead costs associated with running a delivery service. It’s important to note that delivery fees help ensure the sustainability of our business and enable us to continue providing you with convenient and reliable service.

What are Tips?

Tips, on the other hand, are a direct expression of appreciation for the service provided by your delivery driver. They are not mandatory but are a wonderful way to acknowledge excellent service, such as prompt delivery, friendly interaction, or going the extra mile. Tips are entirely discretionary and go directly to the driver who delivered your order.

How much should you tip? The amount you tip is up to you, but here are some general guidelines to help you decide:

  • Coffee shop order: For a $40 coffee shop order with a $5 delivery fee, a 20% tip ($8) would be generous.
  • Restaurant order: For a $72 Mexican restaurant order with 3 drinks, a 15-20% tip ($10.80 – $14.40) is standard.
  • Grocery store order: For a $100 grocery order that took an hour to complete, a tip of 15-20% ($15-$20) is appropriate. Consider tipping more if your order was particularly large or complex.
  • Extraordinary service: If your driver went above and beyond, such as delivering on a special occasion or handling a difficult order with exceptional care, a larger tip is always appreciated.
